TOWN OF SMITHFIELD

Local Law No. 1

A Local Law to provide for the continuation of the offices of Assessor as elective provided that such elected Assessors shall in all other respects comply with the Real Property Tax Law of the State of New York.

BE IT ENACTED by the Town Board of the Town of Smithfield, Madison County, New York, as follows:

Section 1. Local Law No.1 of the Town of Smithfield as approved by the Town Board at a Regular Meeting held on April 5th, 1971, to provide subject to a mandatory referendum that the offices of Assessor shall continue to be elective as provided by law, provided, however, that such elected Assessors shall in all respects comply with the Real Property Tax Law and with the Local Finance Law of the State of New York.

Section 2.' This Local Law shall take effect as of October 1, 1971 if approved at a special referendum to be held on the 29th day of June, 1971.
